The Comeback: The Resurgence of the 1970s
For my entire life my parents have had this Grundig record player and radio in the basement, and I have always had some level of fascination with it. Inspired by this machine, my own humble vinyl record collection, and an interest in 1960s and 1970s design language I used those as jumping off points for this occasional set.
Shape and color inspiration was pulled from Nova magazine photos, breeze blocks and butterfly roof lines on mid-century homes, fashion such as rainbow-striped sweaters, egg timers, and more.
A thought in the back of my head was the image of someone enjoying a record on their hi-fi system in a finished basement.
Kælder is the Danish word for basement, so to make it a bit easier to read in the anglosphere, I removed the 'æ' and inserted 'a' instead.
